Dr. West, DVM
I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1978 and have been practicing veterinary medicine ever since. My decision to pursue this career came from a lifelong love of animals combined with my fascination with biology and medicine. Over the years, that passion has only deepened as I’ve had the privilege of caring for pets and building lasting relationships with their families.
My husband and I moved to this community in 1986, where we raised our family and put down roots. I joined Georgian Veterinary Hospital in 1994, and it has been my professional home ever since. What I enjoy most about my role is the blend of familiar and new—seeing longtime patients and clients return while also welcoming new families and their pets into our clinic.
Outside of work, I spend as much time as I can with my family. Two of my children still live nearby with their families, and I love supporting my grandchildren in their many activities. At home, I share my space with Gwen, my cat, and I happily “grand-parent” two granddogs as well. When I’m not with them, you’ll often find me walking, gardening, traveling, or simply enjoying the rhythm of grandparent life.
Looking ahead, I’m working on becoming a little more tech-savvy while trying not to be overwhelmed by paperwork! What remains constant, though, is my commitment to providing warm, personal care to every pet and client I meet. I’m proud to be part of the Georgian Veterinary Hospital team and to call this community home.
